Towing in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa sits inland of Newport Beach and southeast of Huntington Beach, with the 405 and the 55 crossing at South Coast Plaza. Call (714) 785-6449. Towing Huntington Beach is operated by Sunset Beach Towing, and the business address remains 16885 Pacific Coast Hwy #228, Sunset Beach, CA 90742.

The mall interchange is its own problem. South Coast Plaza, South Coast Metro, and the Bristol Street ramps stack a lot of lanes in a small map. A dead battery in a parking structure needs the structure name and the level, not “by the mall.” A car that quits on the 55 or the 405 needs the direction and the nearest ramp: Bristol, Harbor, or Fairview on the 405, and the South Coast Drive area where the 55 meets them.

Roads and landmarks

  • The 55, the Costa Mesa Freeway, and the 405/55 interchange beside South Coast Plaza.
  • Harbor Boulevard, the commercial north-south road from the 405 toward the Westside.
  • Bristol Street along the mall, continuing north toward Santa Ana.
  • Newport Boulevard, which becomes the road to the peninsula once it leaves Costa Mesa.
  • Baker Street and 17th Street, the east-west cuts through the middle of town.
  • Fair Drive at the OC Fair & Event Center, and Fairview Road beside Fairview Park.

Neighborhood names help only after the cross street. Mesa Verde is the north end, toward the Santa Ana River. The Eastside is east of Newport Boulevard. The Westside is the older grid toward Harbor Boulevard. Give two streets either way.

Harbor Boulevard’s stop-and-go is where a car that will still roll should leave the through lane for a lot entrance. On the freeway shoulder, stay out of the lane and name the ramp. Ask for the price before the hookup. It depends on the vehicle and the distance, including a haul back toward Huntington Beach or out to a dealer you choose.
